The Biggest Clickbait! Your CS Degree. For all the CS Grads/Students and you.
Essay

For most normal humans like you and unlike me, what do you think when you hear computer science?

Programming, right?

It’s what we expect to learn and become a master at, mastering the computer.

You telling the computer what to do because no other sane human being will listen to you

Fair enough, then you enrol into the university and learn HTML, CSS, and some JS.

Then you get introduced to the real HARDCORE programming languages, C, Java or C++. You feel yourself making some progress.

Then baaaam out of nowhere, here comes the DSA baam, here comes the Calculus baam, learn Logic Gates, do multiplications on matrices, learn time series, oh and solve the Tower of Hanoi if you really want to learn CS (more like pass the exams).

Huhhhh, then you question yourself and all the life choices you have made till now.

With some effort, now you can recognise that 11 means 2, 001 means 3 and so on. You know computers use binary to do the operations as they call it.

But in the end, you either become a non-programming sadist like a QA, PM or a Designer, or you choose one of the highly readable languages and start coding in JS, Python, or Java and become a fat pig.

Baam there goes your Computer Engineering down the drain. After a few years, you think to yourself, Did I really need to go to university to learn this?

Honestly speaking, no, you did not need to go to a University to learn it but you did anyway and hopefully made some friends. (If you did not, what is life to you, Bro? Chill Man)

Then, Did you really make the wrong choice? (Yes, you did bro) but to consolidate it’s not only your fault.

It’s the University’s fault as well, for being a business putting money first rather than your understanding and the core of Computer Science. (Sad)

Here is what should have been different.

Instead of teaching binary and logic gates, Why even learn it should have been taught?

Were you taught that, the “Transistors”, oh forget it you won’t get transistors? Let’s simplify it, computers are just made up of a lot of  “black parts” that can receive a certain voltage and either store it or not store it. Hence, 0s and 1s. If that black part has voltage, we count it as 1 and if not (oh god! what a genius you are, yes 0).

And how many of these are inside your computer? A lot and a lot.

For rich guys,

The MacBook M2 Air has 20 Billion transistors (black parts), that’s billions, do you even know how many 0’s are in a Billion?  Eight 0’s, Naah, just kidding you're poor too. It’s Nine 0’s.

For poor guys who do not use MacBooks, Who Cares? Search it yourself. Become rich!

For Linux users, especially Arch and other “HACKER” types, don’t hurt me!

Now you know why computers work in 0s and 1s. To summarize, to all dumbasses, it’s because what computers are fundamentally made up of, Transistors (Black Parts) can only have 2 states, voltage on or voltage off, 1 or 0.

So much for computer science, the nag has not ended yet. More to come, in the next episodes of “The Biggest Clickbait! Your CS Degree”, you will read, how understanding high and low voltage will help you in DSA and why it is needed.  Yes, you poor thing, you do need it if you want to code (better).

If any of the sarcasm hurt you in the written texts above, you don’t really matter.

Sayonara!

By,

Someone who does not care about you!
