Robots and AI will take everyone’s jobs in the future. We have all heard this term.
What is Artificial Intelligence?
Can AI think for itself?
Can AI replicate itself on other computers? Like Skynet, in the movie Terminator?
AI is a fantastic way of making mathematics interesting.
Statistics, Probability and Functions, and all the math you were not interested in.
Take it above a notch, combine it all, and you finally have all the weapons to create an AI.
I know stat probability and functions, can I create an AI?
No, what you have is the tools to create an AI, plus you will need programming skills since you are talking to a computer now.
But most importantly, we need data.
Now mix it all, the mathematics, data and programming skills.
Here is a task for you! Analyze the following sentences. Do you see a pattern?
I am Aarush
I am a Software Engineer
I am Rich. (maybe)
I am the world’s best programmer. (hopeful)
For us humans, we can easily see patterns, like in these sentences, “I am” is repeated and we naturally know that “I” is followed by “am” when making a statement in English.
I am Aarush
I am a Software Engineer
I am Rich.
I am the world’s best programmer.
But a computer is a dumb box with wires and some silicone, it cannot see the patterns. We have to teach it to see the pattern. And that is what Artificial Intelligence is, it’s a program that is taught to see patterns.
We may give it 1,000 data or 10,000,000 data and all the “AI” does is find patterns among these data and provide the appropriate result in return.
But imagine you provide it with racist data, you provide the computer with a million racist statements, with the summary that, “Black people are lower class people”. What do you think will be the output of the AI?
Yes, the statement will probably be racist.
And yes the AI will be morally wrong on this statement but remember it does not understand morality.
Engineers from all over the world saw the wrong thing in this approach. So, they created new fancy positions and tasks for people to collect the right data, filter those data and then and only then train the fancy mathematics machine, “AI”.
Now to answer the questions.
What actually is Artificial Intelligence?
Artificial Intelligence is a pattern recognition software with no morality. If it seems moral, thank god to the engineers, they did a good job of cleaning the data and filtering the response.
Can AI think for itself?
I do not think analyzing data and giving a summary can be considered thinking.
Unlessssss, we are all AI created by some superior being, then yes, “AI” can definitely think.
Can AI replicate itself on other computers? Like Skynet, in the movie Terminator?
This is a long process and a mind-boggling thing to even think about.
Unless some evil engineer thinks and codes the “AI” program to copy itself, infect the whole computer and take over the world.
Without this, a big NO, it cannot replicate itself without instructions.
And if in the final days, I am wrong and your computer starts to act strange, “UNPLUG” the computer.
